In 2010 Dr John retired from the computer industry and wanted to have a hobbie. Since he like to garden he wanted to do more. He built a pond with a waterfall in his backyard, added some fish and called it a day. Then thought "I wonder if you can grow plants with fish?", started doing some research and came apone a process called Aquaponics.
After more research he built a greenhouse with a indoor pond and an IBC tote, purchased some Tilapia and he had his Aquaponic System. You ask why Tilapia?, Tilapia are warm water fresh water fish and grow from birth to eatable in 10-11 months.
Tilapia are NOT bottom feeders as we are lead to believe, they are algie eates and will keep your ponds clean of algie.
Anyway, in 2016 Dr John purchased a small farm with the intent to build a few greenhouses to make his Aquaponic Sytems and fish raising a business. He started breeding all natural blue tilapia and blue claw fresh water shrimp. In 2017 a fire destroyed the building that was research and development and offices. Thankfully the greenhouse survived with minor damage.
After the new building was completed, We started to breed and create our own brand of Tilapia. Northeastern Blue's, a tilapia that was raised is a cooler water tempture and a special custom feed to help them survive is a colder pond.
Our production went from 22 breeding colonys to 70 breeding colonys. Producing over 100,000 fish per month. Selling all throughout the US. In 2020 we all know what happened Covid! nothing more to sya about that. The Tilapia business was shutdown. During the shutdown we developed a FDA approved Labrotory to test fish for diseases, check water quality, and plant health. So Aquatic Research Labrotory was born.
Aquatic Research Laboratory™ provides health screening and diagnostic testing for marine and fresh water fish, including ornamental species. Since 2022 we have developed a unique product that removes harmful toxins from all consumable liquids. Witch is our main focus to this day.
Water Analysis is a broad description for various procedures used to analyze water quality. Millions of water quality tests are carried out daily to fulfill regulatory requirements and to maintain safety.
Aquatic animal health testing is performed in accordance with the guidelines outlined in both the WOAH Manual of Diagnostic Tests for Aquatic Animals and the AFS-USFWS Blue Book.
Defense from aquatic plant invaders is having your pond or lake surveyed by ARL's professional team of pond and lake experts. Early detection and rapid response in controlling non-native, invasive aquatic plant control is critical for protecting your aquatic ecosystem.
Thereafter, ARL will develop a specific cost-effective aquatic plant management plan for restoring and protecting your pond or lake.
